Environmental Awareness
26th Nov Day 1
Today, we arrived at Adelaide Airport and met our host for the week. Next, we began to depart for Naracoorte. After a few hours journey, we finally arrived at Wirreanda Bunk house and began to settle down. After dinner we went to a bat tour. Before the bat tour we had a game that teaches us how bats echolocate. The bat tour was very interesting as we learned a lot from the guide.
When we were in the bat cave, the guide told us to off our torches as the bat will think that it was day time and it will not find its food and it will starve and die and even become EXTINCT! We also learnt that after visiting a part of the bat cave, we should off the light at that part so that the heat produced would not cause a changed in temperature, resulting in other organisms growing.
Singapore and Australia are very different in the way that Singapore does not have caves like those in Australia. This is why many Singaporeans are unaware that we should not touch the limestone in the caves or any other things.
