The Community Involvement programme (CIP) allows pupils to participate actively and meaningfully in contributing to the community for at least 6 hours per school year. The CIP is an integral part of our school curriculum and the whole school approach is adopted with the objective of building social cohesion and civic responsibility.
The activities in the programme encompass four key areas: 1) Care for Peer 2) Care for Class 3) Care for School 4) Care for Community We are proud to say that we have achieved 100% participation rate for CIP in 2009 Please click for further information of the CIP Structure 2010 CIP Structure ppt |
Overseas Community Involvement Programme (OCIP) 2009 21 pupils and 5 teachers went to Cambodia for a Heart trip in Dec 2009. They visited a village school where they built a library, taught simple English, art and craft, played games and even served lunches to 400 Cambodian kids. It was an eye opener for the pupils and teachers as they watched the Cambodian kids washed their plates in the same river they drink from. Our pupils learnt many valuable lifeskill lessons such as learning to appreciate different cultures, realizing how fortunate they are to have drinking water and electricity. One pupil shared ,” The Cambodian pupils are so willing to learn despite they have little. Their willingness made me try again in different ways to teach them in order for them to understand. They reminded me of one of our school care values –Lifelong Learning.” They also took back an important lifeskill lesson from these Cambodian kids: “Being in content is Happiness”.
