Civics and Moral Education
The Civics and Moral Education (CME) programme seeks to "build in the pupils the requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to handle competing and conflicting demands while holding firmly to their moral integrity and fulfilling their roles as responsible citizens." | This is in tandem with the Desired Outcomes of Education at the end of primary school level in which pupils should: • be able to distinguish right from wrong • have learnt to share and put others first • be able to build friendships with others • have a lively curiosity about things • be able to think for and express themselves • take pride in their work • have cultivated healthy habits • love Singapore |
| The goal of Civics and Moral Education is to nurture a whole and balanced person, with a strong sense of moral values, good interpersonal relationships, one who will contribute to the well-being of society and the nation, and eventually to the world at large. |
| The CME programme are conducted in official Mother Tongue languages, namely Chinese, Malay and Tamil. The lessons are based on the five themes listed below: Theme 1 : Character Building Theme 2 : Bonding with Family Theme 3 : Sense of Belonging to School Theme 4 : Being Part of Society Theme 5 : National Pride and Loyalty |
| The programme consists of a variety of learning experiences that will help our pupils to cultivate good moral values and interpersonal relationships skills. Amongst them are the following : 1. Dramatization 2. Use of video for analysis 3. Games 4. Project Work |
| Pupils are assessed through behavioural and conduct checklist and project work. Ultimately the school hopes that the pupils will demonstrate the moral values in their daily lives. |
